Too Many Adaptations

If the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences were to create a category for too many adaptations of a single story the first one would have to go to Anna Karenina. According to Wikipedia there have been  3 stage adaptations, 13 big screen movies, 3 radio presentations, 5 television movies, 3 ballets, 2 theater musicals, and 10 operas. So was it really necessary to make the lucky 13th movie starring Keira Knightley? I'm thinking no.

Mom Will Make It Better - Or Will She?

I was blessed with three lively children. All of them gave me a run for my money in their own way. My oldest daughter has always been very sensitive to pain and sickness. She takes it harder than most.

One day soon after she first learned to ride a two-wheel bicycle I heard her screaming from about a block away. I didn't know I could run that fast. When I got to her I found she had fallen off her bike and scraped her knee. The way she was carrying on you would have thought she had severed an artery! I was relieved she wasn't as badly injured as I imagined during the run over to her but I was also annoyed about being made to feel that frightened when it didn't line up with reality.

In the best reassuring mother-tone I could manage I said "You will live." She looked at me angrily and said "No I won't! You will!"

I Read TV Show Spoilers

I'm not afraid to admit it. There are some shows that I find far too stressful to wait and find out what happens next. One of these shows is The Bachelor. I couldn't go through this season worrying about Tiara. Weren't you just ready to scream at the TV? A check in with Reality Steve - the best Bachelor prognosticator - and my anxiety was relieved. I don't mind knowing who Sean chooses in the end. I can still enjoy watching how it unfolds.
